| Constipation |
If you are experiencing constipation
Try:
- A higher fibre diet with more fruit and veg, more wholemeal bread and cereals - prunes and figs to soften the stool.
- Don't delay going to the loo when you have the urge.
- Remedies from your pharmacist, like Lactulose ( which makes motions softer), Fybogel (which adds bulk to the motion), Senokot (which stimulates the bowel to work)
- It's OK to strain a bit to stimulate the bowel to work but too much straining isn't helpful - waiting till you get a stronger urge to go does no harm.
- Some doctors recommend drinking lots of water - it will probably make you pass more urine but not have much effect on the gut.
